The subject of faith has long been on the mind of saints who are already saved, those looking to become a christian or when it becomes necessary to confess the reason for one's belief in Jesus Christ. That said, faith is not always easily explained without relying on the use of abstract expressions to illustrate its dimensional characteristics.

So What is Faith in God?

Hebrews 11:1 define faith this way:

Now Faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see.

This means that although faith is not something we can visibly behold with our eyes, it does exist and have tangible presence in our life. To express this more clearly, let's reason through the following:

If we consider the wind which we can neither see comes or goes, we know it exist because as it blows we feel its effects or see the things around us react to its presence. Therefore whether the wind blows from east, west, north or south its effects is what teel us about its presnce and not its visibile properties.  In the same way, the manifestation of faith becomes a tangible substance when we acknowledge God as our father and obey his principles. So, to summarise this simply, faith is the currency by which God operates in in our lives and is based on our trust and obedience.

Faith is Nothing New

In the book of Genesis we see that God created light as well as the heavens and the earth.

Genesis 1:3-4 states:

3 And God said, Let there be light: and there was light. 4 And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness.

As we see above light manifested when God spoke, yet before he did it was not visible. So, in essence, God made something out of nothing. From this we can see that the thought of God, his spoken words and the presence of his spirit resulted in his desires becoming a manifested reality?  Using this as food for thought, this would be the earliest sign of effective faith at work and first exhibited by God, the creator of all.

Faith Has Substance - Realistic Properties

The dictionary define substance as:

The real physical matter of which a person or thing consists and which has a tangible, solid presence.

When our spoken words and thoughts are aligned with our deepest desires, then this can result in manifested outcomes. If those desires are in accordance with the mind of God, then the manifested outcome has tangible value that can complement or impact our lives. This is why it is important to always think and say good things so that the results of our faith produces good works.

How to Build on Your Faith

Each day before doing anything, take time to read God's words, let the Holy Spirit guide you to reflect on verses that speaks to your circumstances, repeat them aloud - not shouting. Always seek to confess and  ask God to forgive all known and unknow sins, pray for those you know and not aware of then enter into praise mode. I always find that this can trigger the act of worship and invite the Holy Spirit to take over as counsellor for how the rest of the time is spent in devotion with God. Listen to these affirmations to help boost your faith.

If you are not already saved and would you like to accept Jesus as your personal Lord and Saviour get this confession prayer and read it aloud, meaning every word you say.
